Trucker for Truco Players
You already know the card hierarchy, the envido and truco rounds. Here's what changes.
Chips Replace Points
There's no "15 or 30 points" objective. No Vale 4 cap. Every hand is played with chips (like poker). Betting is open-ended, the maximum bet is all-in. The match ends when one player holds all the chips.
Individual Play, No Teams
There are no teams, it's always all vs all. You can play heads-up (1v1) or up to 9-10 players in a table.
Blinds (same as poker)
Before each hand, two players post forced bets:
- Small Blind (SB) posts
sbchips to the main pot - Big Blind (BB) posts
bbto the main pot and anotherbbto the envido pot
Each game defines there own sb, bb quantities. Usually: bb = 2 * sb
The SB player is the first player to the right of the dealer (aka. "Mano"), BB is the next player to their right. In heads-up (2 players), the dealer is the SB.
Pre-flop Betting
After blinds are posted and cards are dealt, there's a betting round before any card is played. The player after the BB acts first. Players can call, raise, check (if you they nothing), or fold.
To play, a player must at least bet the bb.
SB player must also match the full Blind. If the round reaches the BB flat (no raise, players simply called the Blind) BB is allowed to raise the bet, or check.
This is different from Truco where the first card is played and then betting begins. Here, you bet first, then play your cards.
Trick-Taking
If a player folds, all their cards are turned face-down and worth nothing: tricks they won no longer count; the next best card becomes the trick winner.
If 3 players win each trick (no clear winner), the pot is divided between the 3 players.
Mid-Hand Truco Raises
Players can bet before playing a card, in any round.
When a betting round closes, the original player must play a card. They cannot re-open a betting round in the same turn.
All-in (same as poker)
If a player can't cover the full bet and goes all-in, a side pot is created for the excess. The all-in player pot is capped to the size of their stack.
Envido Is a Separate Pot
You can win the envido and still fold truco, or fold envido and keep playing truco. They're independent. Any player can open envido betting before or during the first trick. Once the first trick ends, envido is closed for the hand.
Players can play envido pre-flop: if a player does not want to pay the truco Blinds, they can open betting in the envido side-pot (potentially winning), then fold from truco, and keep their envido pot.
If nobody enters envido, the BB takes their blind back.
Envido side-pot is usually collected at the end of a hand, when everyone can confirm the envido winner's score.
Hand Flow Summary
1. Blind posting: SB and BB post forced bets
2. Deal: 3 cards each
3. Pre-flop betting: truco betting round
4. Envido: optional side bet (before or during trick 1)
5. Trick play: 3 tricks of 1 card each, with optional mid-hand raises
6. Settlement: main pot and envido pot awarded
Everything Else Is the Same as Truco
Card hierarchy, trick-taking rules, envido scoring, Flor, all unchanged from the Truco you know. The only difference is the chip-based betting system and individual play.
